Morning Star School is a non-graded school for children from the ages of 6 to 16. Morning Star is an ungraded setting. Students move through age level classes but are instructed at their academic level within the classes listed below:
- Students ages 6-8 are in the Primary class (self-contained class).
- The Primary/Transition students (6-9 years) attend self-contained classes, with some grouping according to ability for academic subjects.
- The Intermediate (9-12 years) levels are departmentalized by subject area and ability grouped in these areas.
- Junior High Prep (11-13 years) level is departmentalized by subject areas and ability-grouped in these areas. These students are self-contained for part of the day and also attend classes with the Junior High students in an effort to make their transition to the Junior High Division successful.
- Junior High (12-16 years) is departmentalized by subject areas and ability-grouped in these areas. The Junior High curriculum offers courses that help prepare students to transition successfully to high school.
Students who demonstrate a particular strength in a subject area have the opportunity to take courses at Most Holy Redeemer, a Catholic Elementary School with which Morning Star School shares a campus. Students functioning at grade level and displaying the maturity and work habits necessary to succeed are selected to participate.
