Service Hour Information

Morning Star is comprised of a small school community that uses our Golf Tournament and Tennis Tournament as our main source of Service Hours.   

Other service hour opportunities include: 

Morning Star Sundays – We visit different churches in the area to speak about Morning Star School and collect donations.  We also need help putting together pamphlets and writing thank you notes. 

Work Days – Two Saturdays per academic year.  We meet on the school grounds to do yard work, refurbish playgrounds and perform other maintenance work.  Students in Intermediate and above may participate, as long as they work.  You may get service hours for each family member that works. 

Christmas Play – Help needed mostly before pick-up to set up chairs the afternoon of the play, sell raffle tickets, and clean up after the play. 

Parent Meetings – 4 per year – One service hour per family per meeting. 

Work on Golf Tournament Committee, Tennis Tournament Committee, or Gala Committee.

Homeroom Mom/Dad – Is responsible for dispersing information to parents in your child's class via telephone calls and/or e-mail. 

Newsletter – Help get newsletters ready for mailing (usually 2-4 hours). 

Raffle Tickets – Sell $20 worth of 50/50 raffle tickets for the Tennis Tournament receive one service hour.   

Supply baked goods for Grandparent's Breakfast or a Teacher Luncheon.

Help serve at Grandparent's Breakfast.

Drive on Field Trips usually one per grade level per year (insurance, safe environment training, background check and fingerprinting required).
